I would suggest getting Photoshop Elements - at ~$700 CS2 is WAY too powerful and expensive for a novice.. it really is a professional program, and realistically - by the time you learn to use it - they'll probably be introducing a new version..

if this is vista you are using (yeah?) - then there is one additional step that you may be missing.

you need to use a command window (--%26gt;Start, type 'cmd' and 'cmd.exe' should appear)

you should run this command window as administrator, so right click on cmd.exe and select ''run as administrator'' and agree to the usual security information.

when in the command window, type the following:

regsvr32 jscript.dll (then press enter)

you should receive a message box saying 'successful'

then type the following:

regsvr32 vbscript.dll (then enter)

When your working on a project in Photoshop, what file and compression do you save in? Ive heard that saving in Jpeg uses too much compression and ruins an image and is best used after a project is finished. Am I right using TIFF or should I use another file option??

Are you saving as an image to be used in something else? If you are, using either a TIFF or an EPS is your best option. They can easily be imported into other programs to be used in other projects.

If your not using the image in anything else, just leave it as a PSD. Its the easiest way to have your layers saved and everything still in tact.

Tiff or psd is the safest from quality saving perspective.
why not just save it as .psd until you are finished? then use .jpg. when you are finished. that's what i do and it is great plus it is readable by everyone.

When I'm working in Photoshop CS2 and want to use a filter, I go in and click the filter that I want to use. But when the filter window opens up, the window itself is too huge. The window is so large that the options that are towards the bottom of the window are not even visible. In addition, I can't even see the lower portion of my picture, and can't work on it. Try increasing the resolution of your display, assuming your graphics card can support it.

Eg. You could be working in 1280x780, you should probaly change it to 1600x1260 or so. *Note, these dimensions are estimations, not exact.

Photoshop Fading Oval?

I did it before, but I forget how to do it again. Now I selected, contracted by 10 pixels, inversed, feathered by 10 pixels, and then hit the delete key, and get this result.

On the left is what I have in Photoshop, basically the fading concept, and the right is what comes out. You can see the ending point, when I intended it to perfectly fade-in.

Does anyone know how I can get basically the same fade effect, but have the edge of the oval fade into the background and to still not have an end line curve?

Lets see, if I'm correct you want the frame to be less noticeable around the MMX picture. Here's my suggestion...

First put the MMX pic on the first layer do nothing with it except you gray scale I guess.

Then make a new layer and put your oval frame over it.

After that use the erase tool with a basic brush at 0% hardness at about 10 pixels.

Then go around the inner part of the oval frame and start erasing very lightly and you'll get it to blend nicely.

Make your selection, switch to quick mask mode, apply a gaussian blur, come out of quickmask and select inverse, go to edit, then fill with whatever colour is your background
You'll have to feather more than 10 pixels, it sounds like. To better see what your edge is like:

-Instead of using the standard 'feather' option, Make your oval selection, and then switch to 'quick mask' mode (hit the Q key)

-You can then see the selection (default makes the outside of the selection red) and can feather it using filter-%26gt;blur-%26gt;gaussian

-adjust the level of feather you want to get the edge to blend better.

-Once you get the effect you want, get out of quick mask by hitting the 'Q' key again.

Choose the colors that you want (ie black foreground and white background) and go into the filter gallery. From there, go into the ''Halftone pattern'' and make sure pattern type is on ''Dot'' from there, you can change the size of the dots and all works fine and dandy!

I'm trying to make rounded corners on one of my pictures and on one of the tutorials I read it said that one of the steps were to ''Right click on the layer and select Blending Options'' this may seem dumb but i'm fairly new to photoshop so idk, but im not exactly sure where to right click on the picture. Ok you should have a palette on the screen (normally on the right side) with some tabs that say layers, channels, paths...

you want to make sure you are on the layers tab. Then you will see thumbnails of all your layers. You then choose the one you want, and right click on the thumbnail or the name of it. Blending options will then pop up.

Alternatively, use the menu bar and choose layer %26gt; layer style %26gt; blending options. Again you will have to make sure that you are working on the correct layer by making sure it is highlighted on the layers tab on the palette.

You can't view images saved in psd format outside of Photoshop. You'll have to save a copy in another format such as jpg, tif, gif or whatever format your other programs can see.

Me personaly I would just crack it using a key generator. I think I still have the ISO of my photoshop CS2 with the crack embedded on the disk. Where did you get your Photoshop from? Did you download it or did you get it on CD?

It seems that you're trying to install a lame pirate version in which case I suggest you find something better.

If you've downloaded it, maybe some files got lost on the way. Try downloading it again.

If you have a CD, install it directly from the CD.

It sounds like your Preferences may be corrupted. Here's what you need to do:

1. Click on your home folder and select your Library folder. There should be a folder called Preferences in there. Open it.

2. Locate a file called ''com.adobe.Photoshop.plist''. Drag it to your trash can.

3. Locate a file called ''com.apple.Safari.plist'' and drag it to the trash can.

4. Empty the trash can and start your machine.

This process will reset your Preferences and should stop both programmes from quitting. Hopefully, it solve the problem.

If Safari is still not working, I recommend that you download and install Firefox and use that browser instead.

Okay, so first I tried to install Adobe Photoshop 5.0 and got the ''This program required VGA resolution or higher'' error message. So I reset the screen resolution and restarted the photoshop. ''This program required VGA resolution or higher'' pops up again just as photoshop started to install.

Anybody know what I need to do? I reset the screen resolution as high as it would go, and I got the same error message again.

Well, I don't know how to solve the problem, but I might be able to give you a little insight, at least insomuch as that it appears to have nothing to do with what your screen resolution is set to, because ''VGA resolution'' is actually 640x480, which is to say it is the *lowest* resolution any computer will do these days, so I guaranty that it isn't a settings problem, because your computer's resolution is incapable of being lower than VGA...

The first thing I'd check would be to make sure that all your software and drivers are up-to-date (http://update.microsoft.com/ for Windows users) and also check with the company that manufactured your video card to see if there are any more up-to-date video card drivers that might not have been posted on Microsoft Update.

Check the vga card spec on the two systems, yours and the pc that the installation worked on. if possible set your vga resolution to that of the pc you were able to install on. if the card/monitor cant support the resolution required you might not br able to install. Also check whether the vga memory is shared or dedicated. if you know your systems' ram and when you check it by right clicking on my computer -%26gt; properties and its shows a figure less that what is installed then the vga memory is shared. You could try increasing how much memory is dediacted to graphics

With the type tool, drag a box in your file then place or type your text by clicking at the top of the box with the type icon. That way it will confine it to the width you want when you centre it.

It has nothing to do with your text or spaces - you just need the type area box which will answer your issue. Good Luck
After you press the center button, try dragging the text to where you want it on the screen. If you are talking about ''center'' as in the center of the document space, go to View Rulers/grids and then you will be able to find the dead center. You can also specify under preferences what you want the units of the rulers and guidelines to be in (Pixels, inches, picas....etc)
When you draged accross to create a new text box photoshop will have automaticaly created a new layer. Once you have done what Sherlock suggest you can then select the text you have just typed and use the centre button on the top task bar to centre the text within the box. Hit enter.

To centre your text box within your image hit the V key on your keyboard to select the move tool. In the layers palet click on the background layer and then control click the text layer so that they are both selected.

If you look up to the top task bar there are six little symbols that are a big square, a little square and a line. Play around with these and they will help you align your text where ever you would like it within your image.

I want to make an animation in photoshop cs2. It involves several shapes being transformed in each frame. However, when i transform the shape in a frame all the other frames are affected as well and the shape is transformed in those too. How do i prevent that?

Make sure you only have that one frame your are affecting selected. If you have another frame highlighted that frame will change too.

I'm pretty sure that's the problem. But I don't use CS2 anymore, so I'm sorry if it doesn't work.

I'll suggest this other way just incase.

Duplicate the image and move it to where it should be for the next frame. So you have two different images for the seperate frames. Make as many different images for the frames needed. Hide the images that aren't meant for that frame.

That might be what I use to do.

It ll take some time.

Import that pic in to a new pshop page.

Make 4 new pshop pages using the colors from this your original for those strips.

Use the pattern stamp tool to make funky patterns to fill the entire page. Then under layers change the layer fxs to xolor overlay. Pick out a color and then fade it back from 100%. Try other layer options than normal too. You'll have to play with that.

Get all 4 pattern pages where you like the, and they match and get the lasso tool with the straight edge and 'clip out' s strip from each one and put them in the page with your original. Line up your strips with the original, and duplicate.

Create a new layer above the original layer for your funky back ground.

Go online and search for free fonts. Find 2 that look like these. Get a pic of yourself and convert image to greyscale, or hit command+U for saturation and desaturate.

What version of Photoshop are you using? To amplify on what Robert Levine has already said, versions prior to CS (8) used a shell extension named psicon.dll that allowed a thumbnail or icon of PSD files to be displayed in Windows Explorer instead of a generic image symbol. This caused a problem due to a bug in the operating system that caused some PSD files to be treated as though they were always open and thus could not be saved. A similar problem has occurred with Microsoft's own RAW image file viewer applet. Renaming the psicon.dll file eliminates both the enhancement to Windows Explorer and the persistent file open problem. Starting with Photoshop CS, this functionality was removed to avoid the bug.

Okay, calm down. Open one photo, then open another, select it, then drag and drop it onto the photo you opened first, it will automatically make its own layer. Make sure you have the layers pallet open (go to ''Window'' drop down menu, scroll to layers) so you can see the different layers to be able to work on them. When dragging your second photo onto the first one, make sure you click on the ''select'' tool at the left menu bar (top right pointer looking thing). Then open the next photo you want to put in and do the same thing until you get all of the photos you want in the file.

Kinda difficult to say without seeing the image. If it's just solid black lines, high contrast kind of thing, you can make a selection of the non-line areas (magic wand may help...a lot), then change to the layer you want to draw on.

As early as Photoshop 6, there is a pinch filter. Filter - distort - pinch. That will do a pinch and bloat. Photoshop 7: Filter - liquify. With both of these, a mesh comes up that you can vary to achieve the effect you want. Doubt that you can download, but they are cheap on eBay.

Put the background in one layer and the image in another. Create a layer between them to add any shadows or transitional accents to make it look natural. Flatten before saving the final output.

You will want to DELETE the ''whited out'' area so you can see through to the B.G. You can use the layer options to make the white transparent, but this creates a jagged edge and also makes other white areas transparent, so you're better off to delete it in that layer.

EDIT: Layers are already transparent. It's the image in the layer that's not. You can select an area of the image and press delete or use the eraser tool.

Two ways of solving this issue.

1. goto Menu --%26gt; Image --%26gt; mode --%26gt; you see grayscale being checked , change it back to RGB or CMYK or your choice.

and dont flatten the image on prompt.

2. Restart Photoshop and try.

In the tool bar under ''image'' select ''image size''. Change the DPI to 300. Hit OK.

Select File, Save for web, select JPEG from the drop down and select high resolution. Click OK. Give it a filename that says ''filename_highres''. Click ok.

Do the same thing, but under ''images size'' change the DPI to 150. Hit OK. Give if a different filename.

In general, it's not a good idea to do logos in Photoshop. Photoshop does not create vector graphics. Something like Illustrator or other drawing programs allow you to create logos that can be scaled down to the side of a pen, or blown up to the size of a building or bill board, without losing quality.

Okay well, yeah I'm pretty sure when you want to change the color you just use the same one. Also, you really should use another layer for brushes, just incase you get far along then decide you want to change a brush or get rid of it you won't have to delete everything else you did.

They only way to get it without downloading is to get the program off a disk. But photoshop 4 is really old and dated, it's about 10 years old or so, so you may have a really hard time finding it. Magnetic lasso is a good tool for this, if you stand out from the background. Go around the perimeter of what you want to cut out until you return to where you started. Everything will blink. Then you can layer via copy and have it on it's own background.

The absolute best way to learn photoshop is to sit down and just play.

If you just want to crop a picture ,select the rectangle tool on top left of your tool bar,outline what you want in your picture.Then select the crop tool.

I would like to hear other artists' opinions regarding the use of photos in their pieces, specifically using Photoshop for digital painting. To narrow down the techniques, I'll share 3 common ones: 1) Painting over photos e.g. painting over a face 2) Cutting and pasting photos to produce a new image 3)Sampling part of a photo to make a custom brush/stamp to paint with. In all techniques mentioned above, the photos are either personal ones or royalty free.

Which techniques do you think are ethically acceptable? Do you use any of the aforementioned techniques (and if not, I'd love to hear YOURS.)? If you think it's wrong to use photos in these methods, how is it different from producing a collage the old fashioned way?

Personally, I use a little bit of #2 and use #3 intensively. I also employ texture overlays. I'm looking forward to reading your opinions, and sorry if this was a bit long to read!

Heya...before any manipulations. Adjust your levels first. :) To answer ''what is ethically acceptable?'' is an essay within itself. For painting, I like to use softer brushes with the opacity reduced to about 10-60 percent. This makes for more control and less command + z's. I then tune in the layer that contains the ''brush strokes'' with blending modes and opacity control. Seasoned pros use the pen tool to cut images and then soften the edges with blur effects or simple feathering. Texture overlays are smashing. Most methods are coupled with other methods, of course. ;)

Adjustment Layers and Masks are a Godsend. Fragmented answers, but I hope to start a dialog.

Wear rubbers and adjust your levels.

Are you trying to create a ''Gif'' from Photoshop?

If so, go to.. File=Save for Web=select Gif (It might be on JPEG) click Save.

Gifs are great for detailed images with transparency(meaning with no white background) for the web.
you still got alot of things to know about GIF. you know that these animations are being created using Photoshops and other soft's. so pick one good soft(i recommend flash) then try to read tutorials

Well I use Photoshop CS but it should work the same way. There are a couple of ways you can do this.

1. Choose the Elliptical Marque Tool and make a selection around the eye. If you want to do both at the same time, select your first eye, then hold down the Shift key and make a selection around the second eye. Now, go to 'Layer %26gt; New Adjustment Layer' and select Selective Color. Now play with the color options and sliders to get the color you want. Alternately, you can choose 'Hue/Saturation' and see what you can come up with.

2. Option two, make the same selections as before, then create a new layer and fill the selections with the color you want. Then change your blending mode for that layer until you get the result you want. I find that Multiply, Screen. and Overlay give the best results for something like this.

1.Just select the area of the image that you want to reflect.

2.Copy and paste it into a new layer.

3.Hit Edit: Transform: Flip Vertical

4. Drag into position. If you want to skew it to change the angle follow the instructions in 3, but hit skew instead of flip.

5. Select the layer in the layers window and reduce opacity until it looks right.

This will give you a decent basic reflection. There is a lot more you can do to it, but this will surfice for now.

When you are on photoshop, select the entire image (Ctrl + a), then copy it (Ctrl + C), open up Word and paste it (Ctrl + V) and that should work. Otherwise save your image in .jpg format and in word go to Insert%26gt;Picture%26gt;From File and retreive it that way. Hope this helps!

Okay, so I have Adobe Elements Photoshop 6. I know how to make layouts and stuff, but they can only be so many mega pixels (I am making this skin to put on bebo). How do I save my layout so that it looks good, but isn't too many mega pixels. I mean HOW does everyone make such awesome layouts with out them bein all grainy or blury??

If your layout is for web save it in File %26gt; Save for Web and choose the PNG24 format. This format preserves quality, colors and transparency and the file that you get is ready for upload.

Megapixels = width pixels x height pixels. If you have an image that is too big, resize it to a smaller size. Quality will not be lost. BUT, if your image is too small, try to start with a larger creation. Or, you can do fairly well increasing the size in 10% increments. Use Resize to do this and where it give you the size in pixels or inches, change that to percent and enter 110 in the box for the width.

File size, Kb. Use the Save for Web. You can also resize here before creating a jpeg file without resizing your open image. Select the Quality -- if displayed digitally, Medium is fine. If you are limited to a certain size file, click Optimize and enter the limiting size. Quality will automatic adjust.

just off the top of my head, i'd say:

1. make the pic black and white

2. add a layer for each color that you'll use. that image looks like it has five colors (blue, fuschia, pink, dark gold, and light gold). make sure that the layers are arranged in the correct order. the pink should be on top of the fuschia and the light gold should be on top of the dark gold.

3. paint a dot for each color (one on each of your 5 layers) in a place where you are sure that the color will be. it doesn't have to be exact.

4. use the smudge tool to push the color around (following the curve of the eye). because you're on different layers, you can always erase part of one color or make one color ''invisible'' for a moment to see the color under it.

that's the best advise i can give you to get a similar effect without searching endlessly for a good ''texture'' to use ~

I am creating a brochure for a class I have and my teacher wants us to manipulate the photos in Photoshop but then copy and paste it into Illustrator because the pixelation comes out better. I was just thinking, lets say you download the trial of Adobe Photoshop CS3 on the 24th of December, and when the download is complete it says, ''You have 30 days access of this program'' or such, what if you mess with your computers date and every few days reset it back to the 24th of December? I use Photoshop 7.0 mainly for photo editing, my local camera shop recommended that I upgrade to CS3 as my software is quite old now. Is it worth it (for 拢150)? What are the main differences between the software programs? What do you think?

If photo shop 7 is doing all you need then don't bother. I have photo shop 7 and I actually use microsoft digital imaging suite most of the time. It is a very simple program to use and just as good for most things. My friend uses photo shop cs but it is a bit complex.
I used to work with Photoshope ME which is simply the 7.0 and when i upgrade it to CS1 which is 8.0 i noticed the environment and the filters and plugins and the mergin of the pics plus the layer section rocks,

now i have CS2 9.0 and am happy with it, and about CS3 10.0 i havent heard much changes.
Not necessarily. Adobe PS7 is still good and upgrading to CS3 is not bad unless you have a huge RAM. CS3 uses a magnitude of memory and may slow down your PC so i highly recommend you stick with PS7. or you could upgrade to 8 or CS2. CS2 is the best compared with the rest.
i think that your camera shop will most likely want you to spend a lot of money on them, personally i think that the high prices of CS2 and CS3 are a bit of a joke, the features are dramatically improved in cs2 compared to PS.7 so an upgrade is worthwhile, but i would recommend downloading the trial first from here: https://www.adobe.com/downloads/ and then (if your feeling illegal) just get a keygen (using a search or a torrent download) and voila a free version of an amazing piece of software!

Save your money and stick with 7.0 until you just can't wait any longer, i.e. you run into some compatibility issues down the road (though I don't see that happening, really).

If it does what you need it to do now, why switch?
As long as Photoshop 7 is doing what you want it to, I don't see why you should upgrade.

Photoshop Clone Stamp Tool Settings?

I'm using Photoshop CS

I use the Clone Stamp Tool to paint textures at work. Recently, the software had to be reinstalled and some of its settings have changed. One thing that now works differently than it had before is the Clone Stamp Tool and I don't know how to change it back.

Before, I would select an area to clone. I'll call the exact point I clicked on the Origin Point. Then, as I painted a new area with the Clone Stamp Tool, the clone curser would mimic the movements of my paint brush over the area so long as I held down my mouse button. When I released the mouse button, the clone curser would snap back to the Origin Point.

Now it behaves differently. The clone curser does not snap back to the Origin Point if I release the mouse button. Instead, it maintains its current position. I do not want this as it makes it very hard to paint large irregular areas using the Clone Stamp Tool if I'm cloning a texture from a small pattern swatch I made.

Alright, Well, the thing is, i like to draw my own photoshop brushes. (just got into it recently) and, i've tried EVERYTHING! from using, sharpie, a pen, a very inky pen, but everytime i scan it, it just comes out ugly . it isn't smooth, and it looks like i used pencil or something . i've seen other people that say they draw their brushes, and the ones they do come out smooth, and they actually look like brushes.

what am i doing wrong? can anyone guide me on how to make my brushes look like actual brushes i got from elsewhere?

also, i'd like some serious answers, and those who answer and/or try to help, i greatly appreciate it. :-)

Photoshop TEXT HELP PLEASE!?

I am currently creating a company logo, and I am fairly new to photoshop. What I need help with is this...

I am looking to put WHITE Bold Text (block letters) over a company logo..however the problem is that the background of the page is white, and the logo is Orange..so when I Insert the text you can not see the text as it blends in...I want to keep the block letters white, but need it to outline the edges of the font with black. How do I do this?

You can do this a number of ways, like most tasks in PS. You can use the text effects for this. But this can result in outlining in black the block letters that are against the orange background, as well as the ones against the white background. It really depends on the final look you want. Do you have to have a white background?

Enter the quick mask, press Q, then just over brush over the bandana, press B to access brushes. It will look red, that's correct. If you make a mistake, you can erase like normal, when you are finished, press Q again to exit the quick mask.

Now you will see that the bandana is selected. Now select the layer on which the bandana is, just at the bottom of the layers window, click on the 'Add fill or adjustment layer' and click Hue/Saturation...

Now just check 'Colorize' and change the sliders as necessary...

Copy and paste the image into Photoshop. Select the paint bucket tool and select yellow from the color palate. Simply click on the bandanna and it will change to yellow.
White into yellow... I don't use photoshop, but I use something similiar to it. Here's my best guess:

1. Use the magic wand tool to select the bandana, and adjust the size of the selection if you need to.

2. Go to Image or Filter on the top bar and try to find a color tool there. If it starts applying to the whole image, copy and paste the bandana into a new layer and doing it there.
Use the paint bucket in paint that is a simple waste of photoshop....
I can't give you step by step instructions how but try googling photoshop tutorials, Plug-Ins also help a bunch for any Photoshop User.
If it's, its own layer, Adjust ---%26gt; Color Balance then change the color to taste.

I asked a question last night, and I guess I wasn't clear enough.

I need to copy a selection from a picture and paste it to a different background. For example, on Photoshop, if I have a portrait, and I want to outline my face and body and then save that as a file I can use in Illustrator, so that I can create artwork around it. How do I do this so that the selection I chose from Photoshop does not paste onto Illustrator with a box around it?

Or am I stuck having to first compose the artwork in Illustrator and then saving it to jpg and editing it in photoshop?

I've seen it done before, but I just don't know how to do it.

If you go to ''help'' in Photoshop, there's a feature called ''export transparent image.'' Select it and then select the options you want and, depending on which options you've chosen, it will create a gif or an outlined eps that will be shaped when you open it in Illustrator. My desktop computer only consist of 512mb of memory. I added more memory with a 1GB card into another slot. george is correct,hard drive space is a totally different subject to ram(memory)

you can install the program on your external drive but as soon as you run it it will be using system memory so you will be back to the initial problem

do you mean 1.5gb hard drive space or 1.5gb memory,if its hard drive space then your amswer is yes,install the program to the drive letter corisponding to the external drive,however make sure your drive is on when you run the program

Umm. Are you meaning putting them side by side?

If so, you can take one photo and strech the canvas size, then copy and paste the other photo into it.

Go to Image%26gt;%26gt;Canvas Size

and lengthen it far enough to hold the other pic.

If you are meaning that you want to turn a photo into something like a pencil/pen sketch, then you open the photo, go to Filter%26gt;%26gt;Sketch%26gt;%26gt;Graphic Pen

And you can play around with it there. You can do a lot with the filters.

But those you linked to just look like blurry black and white pictures of actual pencil sketches.

You can try Paintshop Pro, or The Gimp. I've used The Gimp many times in the past. It isn't as graphical, nor does it hold your hand while making graphics. But its a well built program. I've created many very in depth graphics with it.

I have had Photoshop 8 and 9 and my text tool won't work??

I had Photoshop 9 and my computer was messing up so I had to do a system restore but before I did that I had Photoshop CS3 Beta but when I did the restore it went back to my previous PS and it no longer worked so I uninstalled it and installed it again but then I couldn't type anything with my text tool and it didn't matter what size text or the text name. It just showed up as a black square but my text would show on the text layer and when I hide my layer below my text layer nothing is there. So now I downgraded to PS 8 and it still is the same way. I have been searching for a day and a half and I really need to get this working. Please help, it would be much appreciated. Thanks

There is a lot of information to be found if you search the resolved questions. Good luck with Photoshop in the future and keep at it!! I can sympathyze with the Adobe install deal - I just installed Acrobat Pro(at 900 MB) and it didn't work. Not at all. Not even through MS Word(to convert files to pdfs). Then when I tried to uninstall it froze the uninstaller. Talk about aggravating. At the end of it all, I am just sitting there and lamenting the fact that I didn't want to work on the computer, I just wanted to work on my images.

well im no genius.

but for the first one

it is lens flare, the 35 - 300 mm zoom (correct me if wrong)

for the second one, well i started to play in photoshop and this is one way to do it

make the picture grayscale

to do this, go to image -%26gt; mode -%26gt; Grayscale

then go to image -%26gt; mode -%26gt; RGB color

then use the filter ''difuse glow''

on the picture, but first select a circlular area (with a feather of 60, it depends on how high the resolution the image is)

and this should give you what you want.

now to save it

i would suggest PNG format

then select the option interlaced

you could do jpeg

but im not sure why it does not come out clear and nice

set it to max quality

try the progressive format

and use the maximum amount of scans.

although i am doing this in photoshop CS2 and this may not work in 7.

i might post again after i work the copy of 7 that i have saved on my portable hard drive.

After you have drawn your ellipse, you can expand or contract it with options on the Select menu: Select / Modify/ Expand (or Contract)

As long as your Ellipse tool is active (meaning it's the one selected in the toolbox) you can drag the marque around with the cursor (be sure you click down *inside* the ellipse, and hold while dragging) and you can also nudge it one pixel at a time with the arrow keys.

Okay, I'm pretty good at photoshop so I usually can figure stuff out. I use imageready. Well I like to make designs for myspace and things like that. A lot of the times its a flashing or animated design so I save them as GIF files.

I usually have no problem with doing this, I just go to save optimized as and it always works. Well for some reason, It will only let me save as a .jpeg or a .html!!! I tried going through the settings, I looked in imageready help, and even on answers and none of the suggestions work. What do I need to do to save this file as a GIF? I've done it plenty of times before and I dont understand why it wont work now!!!

Whenever i go into the photoshop cs3 setup, it says i must close down internet explorer to continue, when i don't have it open. I've tried going into task manager and looking for iexplorer.exe, and wasn't there, i tried msconfig and making sure nothing opened on start up and i shut down the computer and turned it on and tried the setup again, didn't work, i tried disabling the internet connection in network connections, that didn't work either. You don't mention how you are trying to start the installation program.

Did you have the CS3 beta installed on your system? If so, then you want to run the Adobe CS3Clean Script. There are very specific instructions to follow if you had the beta.

I recommend going to the Adobe Web site at http://www.adobe.com (Photoshop is software by Adobe) and while there, research the most recent version of Adobe Photoshop. Look up the various editions (like Basic, Standard and so on) and find out which of them best suits your needs.

If your current version and edition does not qualify for an upgrade to the desirable new version/edition, then you need to buy the full version. Otherwise, you can buy the full version or the upgrade depending on how you find necessary.

You can also look elsewhere like on the Staples or Amazon or comparable Web sites to find out the version and edition of Adobe Photoshop that best suits your needs provided that the version of the new copy is newer than the old one - since you are asking for a newer edition.

Currently , i am now using PHOTOSHOP CS2 in the office.

CS has a few bells and whistles that PS7 doesn't, it depends on whether you want or need these as to whether its worth upgrading or not. For me the added extras didn't warrant the expense. However CS2 is now available, and I'll have to do another cost/benefits analysis.

Do remember also, that most brushes, filters, actions, tutorials etc. will now be written with CS2 in mind.
