Photoshop Image Rotation Question?

Why is it when I view some pictures that I have taken in portrait mode, in windows XP dekstop the thumbnail and the picture itself in Windows PIcture and Fax Viewer are rotated (of course) BUT when I view the image in photoshop to rotate it, it is already rotated?

There is ''metadata'' attached to your photos when you shoot them, such as orientation, aperture, shutter speed, focal length, metering mode, and ISO speed information.

Photoshop reads this data and uses it, whereas Windows Picture and Fax viewer apparently ignore it.

Cause Windows scuks? Depends on how you took the picture. Windows may be trying to keep the photo dimensions/orientation the same where photoshop will show the pic as is.

If you want a good photo viewer (and alot of other things viewer) I was suggest getting the free IrfanView. Displays and alows some basic editing. I use it all the time.
