Photoshop background?

i have an image of a beach, and I want to incorporate it as a background in an image where I've essentially ''whited out'' what I want to replace it with. How do I get the beach to fill in the space I took out?? thanks!

im on photoshop CS2 on a mac

Put the background in one layer and the image in another. Create a layer between them to add any shadows or transitional accents to make it look natural. Flatten before saving the final output.

You will want to DELETE the ''whited out'' area so you can see through to the B.G. You can use the layer options to make the white transparent, but this creates a jagged edge and also makes other white areas transparent, so you're better off to delete it in that layer.

EDIT: Layers are already transparent. It's the image in the layer that's not. You can select an area of the image and press delete or use the eraser tool.

1.open the picture of the beach.

2. CTRL+A to select the beach picture and the press CTRL+C to copy the image to clipboard.

3. Open the original image where you want to incorporate the background.

4. remove or erase the background of the image by using eraser, pen or lasso tools

5. create a new layer and press CTRL+V to paste the copied image.

6.and eventually drag the layer bellow your image. and the beach image will act as a background

i hope that will help :)
